NIGHT WALK

The calmness of the night beckons me
Time to turn out lights and step out to see,

Maybe the moon and surely the stars
Twinkling their brightness on our planet and Mars.

I love the night signs of people getting ready for sleep
Lights softly dimming in windows of both poor and elite..
Shades being drawn, doors click as they're locked
Babies contented on laps as they're rocked.

Even the dogs share in my delight
By lowering their barks as I walk in the night.
A car appears and headlights are glaring
The engine is loud, the music is blaring.

I move out of the road to hide from the light
I re-mold myself into the night.
The car passes by, I sigh with relief
By hiding myself I felt like a thief.

I amble on and gaze up at the sky
I look all around and I wonder why,
I am the only one on this lovely night
Out on the street and filled with delight
